This lovely tea set for two is by England's Paragon, which produced fine quality chinaware in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Paragon was founded in 1903 by members of the Aynsley family and in 1972 it became part of Royal Doulton, which retired the Paragon brand name in 1992. One teapot, about 8 inches long between the tip of the spout and the far end of the handle, 3 1/8 inches wide at the top and 4 1/4 inches tall at the top of the handle.
One under plate, 6 1/8 inches wide. One creamer, 3 1/2 inches tall at the tip of the spout and 2 3/4 inches wide at the top.
One open sugar bowl, 4 inches wide and 2 inches tall. Two cups, 3 1/4 inches wide and 2 7/8 inches tall. Two saucers, 5 1/2 inches wide. The set weighs 3 pounds 1 ounce. The exquisite gold-trimmed pattern - called Whispering Grass - features delicate blades of green grass against a background of thin and translucent white bone china.Paragon made two variations of Whispering Grass, one that includes red berries and one that does not. This set does not have berries. The Paragon mark on this set came into use in 1957, making that the earliest the set could have been produced. All 9 pieces are in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains, discoloration, repairs or wear.
